What method do you use to clean carpets? Return to top
Rainbow uses a “truck mounted” hot water extraction machine, otherwise known as “steam cleaning”. This is the recommended and preferred method of cleaning by major carpet manufacturers.
How much does it cost? Return to top
This depends on the condition of your carpet and how long it's been since the last cleaning. We always measure the areas that we are cleaning and charge you only for those areas. If you want the traffic areas only cleaned, we can do that.
How long will it take to dry? Return to top
Normally, the carpets are dry in 4 to 8 hours, depending on how dirty the carpets are and on the weather (humidity). Rainbow Services will be pleased to leave with you a pair of foot covers which allows you to walk on the damp carpet without harming it.
How often should I clean my carpets? Return to top
It depends on the level of usage. If you have children, pets or a large amount of traffic on the carpets, we recommend every 4-6 months. We would also recommend an application of Dupont Advanced Carpet Protection in the traffic areas.
What is Carpet Protection? Return to top
Dupont Advanced Carpet Protection is a treatment that is applied to the carpets after they have been cleaned. (There is also a protection available for upholstery.) It is formulated to provide a protective barrier on the surface of the carpet. This barrier helps to repel spills from setting in and protects fibres from becoming worn down with soil build up.
What can you do about pet odours? Return to top
Pet odour is a very common problem and can be multi-faceted. The biggest problem is that often it can be worse than first expected. Pet urine can easily soak through the carpet into the padding underneath. In severe cases, it can even go beyond that into the sub-flooring. This creates a major problem. Over an amount of time, if left untreated, the pet odour can be absorbed into the porous materials of the home, i.e. concrete, baseboards, furniture, draperies, etc. We have solutions for the carpet, upholstery and window coverings in your home. We can also offer advice as to what to do with the other areas.
Should I wait as long as possible before cleaning my carpets? Return to top
No. The build up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates an abrasion that breaks down your carpets’ fibres. This means higher traffic areas will require cleaning more often. Because Rainbow Services only charges you for the areas that we actually clean, it is possible to get only the traffic areas done.
Why should I have my carpets cleaned? I’ve heard that they get dirtier faster once they have been cleaned. Return to top
The modern cleaning methods that we use thoroughly rinses all cleaning agents out of your carpet so that it will not attract soil. We also have solutions that break down the soapy residue that other carpet cleaners may have left behind. This avoids the re-soiling problem altogether.
